Our History
Executive directors, John and Connie Owens, moved to Kerrville in 2010. Initially driven by the desire to meet the needs of their own son who is deaf and others in the area, Hill Country Signs of Hope began offering residential and occupational services to this underserved population. As the company developed, the need for services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities slowly made itself apparent.
Over the next several years, Hill Country Signs of Hope began offering residential support services, supervised living, respite, supported employment, supported home living, and day habilitation services to individuals with a variety of needs. These clients were primarily funded through the HCS waver program (Home and Community Services) offered by DADS (Department of Aging and Disability Services).
As the number of clients who benefited from behavioral support services grew, Signs of Hope recognized that there was a service deficit in the Hill Country and the needs of many individuals who would benefit from behavioral services were not being met. Because of Hill Country Signs of Hope’s unique position to fill this gap in services, we are now blessed with the opportunity to offer Applied Behavior Analytical services to individuals with Autism and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in the Kerrville Area at Behavior Resource Center.
At Behavior Resource Center, individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities have access to some of the only Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior Technicians in this area. Applied Behavior Analysis is the most widely recognized treatment for Autism. We are grateful to have the opportunity to serve Kerrville and its’ families by offering this service to the community at our new Center.
